How to set or change default web browser

When you try to open web links and no web browser or the wrong web browser is launched, you can solve this by setting the system default web browser app:

Windows 10

  1. Open Add or Remove Programs applet
  2. On left pane choose Default apps section
  3. On main pane locate Web browser and click browser icon below it to change default web browser

Earlier Windows versions

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome Settings (click button with 3 dots in top right corner of the browser window, then select Settings from displayed menu)
  2. On left pane select Default browser section (or scroll down until Default browser section)
  3. Press Make default button and follow instructions on screen

Firefox

  1. Open browser Options (click button with 3 bars in top right corner of the browser window, then select Options from displayed menu)
  2. In General section press Make default button and follow instrunction on screen
